Week Seven: The Crown Chakra

P1202888.JPG

The Crown Chakra, or Sahasrara in Sanskrit, meaning “lotus of 1,000 petals” is the 7th chakra. It is our portal to the Divine, and our higher selves. It is considered a state of pure consciousness. It integrates the physical and spiritual realms.

The crown governs the hypothalmus, pituitary gland, the central nervous system.

When this chakra is open and in balance, we are clear minded, empathetic, feel a strong connection to divinity, enjoy quality time with ourselves, have an awareness of addictive thoughts and behaviors (and gravitate towards healthier ones). We are happy, content, and regularly experience a state of bliss. We are attuned to how we spend our time and energy, and are mindful of letting go of what doesn't serve us. We are living out of the grasp of our ego, and trusting in our intuition. We have a broad understanding of the world, and easily see the way things connect.

When this energy center becomes deficient, we may feel a lack of purpose, unlovable, separated from the whole, and angry at God or the Universe. We may over-worry, have difficulty connecting to our higher wisdom, and lack spiritual fulfillment. Overactive, a person may develop a "God complex", believing they are superior to others. Excessive crown chakra energy can also make us feel lost and distrustful. Feeling "spaced out" is also a sign of an over-active crown chakra.

Physically, it can manifest in the form of headaches, sensitivity to light, chronic exhaustion, muscular diseases and

The best things to support a healthy crown chakra are meditation, love, generosity, and self-acceptance.
